Countdown To College: Day 1

2:35 PM
Okay. Day 1. I didn't get hardly any sleep last night. But, me and my friend got Dunkin' Donuts this morning, and I finished my summer reading *claps*. FINALLY! and now I can enjoy my last big dinner with my family later. But, right now I'm still waiting to be picked up by my mother. I miss herrrrr... still. Tomorrow's the big day. I MIGHT do a post, but there will be a lot going on so, I don't know how long it'll be if I do have one. I still have to choose my clothes, my shoes, gather the rest of my décor-type stuff (print stuff included), and something else... oh yeah, my sunglasses. (I have a lot of pairs.)

8:22 PM
Man, what an eventful few hours. I got picked up around 5 PM, and when I got home my mom was just arriving home from work.. (YEAH!) so then I got some water settled down a bit then my momma and I went to get an Ethernet cord and my food, which consisted of dried fruit, cereal, soup, spaghetti o's, granola bars, popcorn, etc.. Then, after we got back I packed a box full of my food, then I had to change so we could go out to have our "last supper" at Golden Corral. Which had a chocolate fountain and cotton candy and gummy bears and like the weird mushy volcano brownie stuff that I love. And of course b/c of something, I've been getting nauseous no matter what I eat, so dad got us all gumballs from the gumball machine which I'm chewing now and that makes me less nauseous. So, when we got home I got together the last things I need to have washed to bring. But, I'm letting my stomach settle. I will update later.

10:50 PM
Okay. I picked out the shoes and clothes imma bring, and the hats. I printed out the pictures for my wall loveliness.. and cleared off my corkboard. I finished off my last gummy bear and am soon going to sleep and get up at 7 in the morning to shower and pack the car.. several trips will be needed.. i'm assuming I will be staying at the dorm setting the stuff that has been brought up while they make multiple trips to get the stuff, seeing as we don't live too far away...

But anyway. I gotta jet. Goodnight.

Countdown to College: Day 2

7:47 PM
Okay, day two turned out to be kind of hectic. Tomorrow will be even more hectic. But that's okay, I guess... First of all, I barely had any time to read or pack before being whisked away to never never land where I'm a kid forever. But I managed to pack the rest of my NON clothes, shoes, and sunglasses before leaving, so that's good. I read a bit of the book over here before I left with my bestie and her little brother to go to my old high school. I saw some of my teachers, it was definitely interesting and I definitely miss them a lot, but I have a lot to look forward to. I'll update more later.

9:56 PM
I read a bit and then fell asleep. Then I woke up and I was already missing my mom, and I started crying. I'm over my friends house and miss my mommy and I don't care what anyone says. But I thought it over and decided I'm gonna be able to handle it in college. I mean I live pretty close. But it sucks feeling it. Now me and my bestie are gonna have like mint chocolate chip milkshakes.. kind of. But. yeah. I might type more later.

10:51 PM
Okay.. last update I'm gonna chill for a bit am maybe fall asleep again idk. Maybe even read my book more. Tomorrow's the last day, so it might not be very long cause I will be pretty busy.

Countdown to College: Day 3

8:29 PM
Okay, today is day 3, and I'm writing this just to keep you updated.. I have not done anything today so far. I am exhausted and am trying to stay awake to finish my book. I want to pack more today, but I'm thinking that if I go to bed early now, I can get up earlier tomorrow and finish most of it. But, tonight I'm going to keep reading and falling asleep as many times as it takes until I finish a great deal more of the summer reading.

11:26 PM
Well I've been reading and now I have about three/two more chapters left. Imma keep reading.

Countdown to College: Day 4

Hey, readers! Today is Day 4 of Countdown to college. Today has been a crazy day.

Okay, so we went to Wal-Mart and got ALL of the school supplies you can imagine. Highlighters pens white out binders notebooks (etc.) and finally got my planner. And then we went to Bed Bath and Beyond (where my brother asked where the BEYOND section is ), and we finally found a robe, got me some bed risers and some storage. Then I got home ate a chicken salad sandwich and walked the dog and organized everything, and started making some stuff to decorate my binders. Then I had to eat dinner, and do dishes, and watch the True Blood finale, so I just finished.

But, anyway.. my room is a MESS. Kind of. I mean I'm packing, and that's my "excuse" but. Man. I have to read my book tomorrow. I'm gonna try to finish it. Cause on Tuesday I'm sleeping over my best friends house.

Anyway, I gotta jet.

Countdown to College: Day 5

Today is day 5 of countdown to college. I am finally getting my stuff done, I read a bunch of my summer reading today and my mother picked me up some feminine products, vitamins and my contraception. We're planning on getting the rest of the stuff tomorrow, so that'll be a big update. Also, I got my last college book that I ordered in the mail today.

AAANNDD.. I started packing some today. If you're planning on packing for college I suggest on splitting up your things by category. So far I've packed up 4 boxes, and I cleaned out my rolling side table-thing. Now imma watch a movie and make some décor...

These Days: 08/16/2013

So, I really did like nothing today.. why is it that I couldn't have the whole summer to relax? I was always being interrupted.

Anyway. You might want to know that yes, indeed.. it's confirmed Area 51 exists, but no admittance of hiding alien bodies or spacecraft... But we can always hope. Don't act like you aren't hoping to see one or just be proven right after all those people telling you how crazy you are.

On another side.. I watched a million things tonight, and now I'm listening to music. There are more things to come. I just realized how much I want to watch The Legend of Billie Jean.. it's cause Invincible by Pat Benatar reminds me of it. I'll put a feature up soon.. maybe.

And the winner is... : Kensie Giveaway

The way I picked the winner was through random.org. I wrote down everyone's name and gave them a number, and then I pressed the button, over and over until a number had shown up three times.

Okay.. the winner is.. Azra! A friend from facebook. Thanks everyone for your participation in the contest. And guess what?! There is going to be another giveaway up soon. It's in collaboration with Fantas-Eyes Sunglasses! Look for it, and maybe one of you will win that one.

Book or Movie (SPOILERS!) : Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes/ Lemonade Mouth DCOM

Ever since I found out the inspiring tale that I watched on Disney Channel I wanted to read this book. The movie was exciting and touched on things I love thinking about. I've always wanted to start a band, or really make a difference like they did. My best friend and I used to do the little lemonade gesture that they did during the song "Here We Go" that they did at the Halloween Bash.

I do not own this image. Found on Bing images.
Anyway, on to the book. It was really good and really touching and made me cry. For one, Olivia's voice was supposed to be deeper and she was supposed to be known as "the fat girl". Which from a feminist perspective, I find it kind of fatphobic that they didn't stick to the description of her. Stella was supposed to be WAY taller and to cut her like too-her-butt long hair to a pixie cut and dye it green and play the ukulele. Charlie's look is supposed to change and he's supposed to be more reliant on coin flipping for his decisions. The book shows more into Mo's life and her dad's traditions and dealing with that, and that kind of turns me off about the movie. Then, Wen is supposed to wear glasses and play the trumpet and have a bigger reason to why he hates his dad's girlfriend. Charlie and Mo are supposed to end up together, and Lemonade Mouth, their sound is kind of a mix of a bunch of different genres more than it is in the movie. Like classical, jazz, rock, etc. Despite everything I still LOVE the movie, I just see them as very different.

I do not own this image. Found on Bing images.
The story part, is WAY more touching in my opinion because you get to read it from each individuals perspective and personally doing it that way, it makes me feel like I am feeling what they felt in each moment and it automatically makes me love it more. I just love books, so I'm going to.

So, I would definitely recommend the movie and the book, they're both amazing. But, out of the two the book is better.

(also there is a book sequel, I don't know how recent it came out but I'm going to be looking for it.)

Review: Kensie Beach Pants (and a giveaway at the end)

Kensie contacted me and asked me to pick one of their items, and that I could host a giveaway. I was thrilled to have this opportunity. The pants aren't what you'll be winning, it'll be another item, though. To get that clear.

The item I chose was the Kensie Beach Pants. For one, these pants are REALLY soft. They are very versatile as well, they're comfy enough for bed, breezy enough for the beach, and are thick enough to wear anywhere else. Personally, I'd wear them anywhere because they're just so gorgeous it'd be a crime to not let anyone see them.

I love the pants overall, but I can't stop wishing that it had pockets, because I love pockets. But seeing as their main purpose was as a beach cover up I can understand why there aren't any, sand getting stuck in the pockets would be devastating.

Their softness did not go away after washing and drying them. The colors did not bleed, make sure to just wash it with the colors and not the whites and you'll be fine. They do not appear to have shrank in the wash. (disclaimer: I washed them once.)

Now, time for the giveaway. To win the giveaway comment your name and email address. In 5 days I will close the giveaway and I will contact the winner by email, give you a code that will show you the items you can choose from, and ask for your address and which item you want, reply fast, please! Then I will contact Kensie and then they will ship the item of your choice to you.

I urge you to look at they're stuff because a lot of it's really cute and interesting.

Movie Muse: Now and Then (1995)

Now and Then Trailer. Found on YouTube.

WARNING: There may be spoilers!

I have watched this movie many many times. It's amazing. It makes you want to gather up three of your friends and go on an adventure for the summer. I would consider this a rather feminist film, though it lacks any WoC (women of color for those of you not up on feminist lingo), it showcases women as 3-Dimensional people, as apposed to characters without a personality.

This movie makes us all think about our lives (despite our ages). It makes those who are young think about our futures, and those who are older think about their past. It makes us younger women think about how we are going to be looking back on what is happening in our lives right now.

The movie starts off by showing us four women meeting up in their old hometown in a house they  all know well. While in the present situation the story goes back to a summer in the 1970's. So, even if you aren't there for the storyline, you can be there for the 70's fashion, and house décor. If you like the fashion aspect, I'll probably put up a fashion article about it, maybe do one for each character. (comment and let me know?)

The characters are Samantha (the narrator, although some scenes don't have her), Roberta, Teeny, and Chrissy. They are all very different in the way their lives are and they're personalities, so there are a lot of stories that people may identify with. Also, if you can watch an extended version, I urge you to because there's some pretty wicked things that add to the plot in various deleted scenes etc...

Musical Genius: Midnight City by M83

Midnight City by M83. Found on YouTube.

I've heard this song before I actually recognized it's genius. Probably unknowingly on the radio. But, after finally watching Warm Bodies for the first time, and hearing the song play while seeing water flow over Nicholas Hoult's zombie body... I loved it. I honestly don't know the lyrics, but at this point I really don't care, because this song injects a relaxing feeling into my body everytime I hear it. It's one of those songs that makes you feel infinite (catch the reference) when you listen to it on a dark night, when the rain is falling, or in a good car ride. It gives you that feeling of being in those situations, where we all just take a fresh breath of air and enjoy the moment. So, if you haven't yet, click the play button on the video, listen to it, and try at least once with your eyes closed.
